The Tavern On Broadway is located in the heart of Newport's Historic District in a completely renovated 200 year old colonial building. The owners— Jill and Jim Blumel—are passionate about the restaurant and creating a family atmosphere for both staff and guests. We look forward to serving you -- please stop by and say hello!
John Keating - General Manager
John Keating knows he was born to be in the bar business, “it’s in my blood, I got a great training from my grandfather, who worked at the famous Shelburne Hotel in Dublin for 40 years.”
Working beside his father for distillers in his birthplace, Dublin, Ireland, John grew up in the business and has continued the tradition stateside, where he arrived in 2000. He believes “every customer is a potential regular” and has created a diverse local following with his creative cocktails and hand selected beer list. Combined with his witty Irish charm, a session with John has become a must when visiting Newport!
